Origin story
Cafe Janay began as a simple idea to inspire Mrs. Kimble's English II class in 1999. Her 7th hour class helped her transform their classroom into a shabby little cafe! As the students performed poetry on a makeshift stage, the handcrafted banner boldly proclaimed "Night or Day - it's Cafe Janay.
Poetry Day
Each year Mrs. Kimble's English classes celebrated National Poetry Day in April. Some students read their own poems, others a favorite poem, and a few actually performed lyrical poetries on stage. With treats like snack cakes, coffee, and soda, all involved enjoyed a day just for poetry.
